Drone Laws in Nicaragua

Flying drones in Nicaragua

This post is intended to give you an overview of the drone laws in effect in Nicaragua.

Unfortunately, flying drones is completely prohibited in Nicaragua. Drones are confiscated upon entry. Several drone pilots have already had to go through this painful experience. However, you can get the drone back for a fee if you leave the country at the same airport.

Remote pilots from our community have already reported to us that drone technology was discovered by the authorities even when entering the country by bus over land. In this particular case, the technology was confiscated and sent to another border crossing where the exit was planned (for a fee of 40 US dollars). However, we cannot confirm at this time whether this transfer always works. In addition, one must rely on the fact that the package then also arrives completely.

We would definitely recommend leaving the drone at home when traveling to Nicaragua.
