Albania – a land of contrasts. Emerald bays along the Riviera, rugged mountain peaks in the Albanian Alps, and winding old towns like Gjirokastra or Berat tell stories of a turbulent history. If you want to document the uniqueness of the country from the air, you must follow its regulations. What you need to know is explained in this article.
First, we have good news for you: In 2022, Albania adopted the European EASA regulations through two ministerial orders (No. 114 and 143). This means your qualifications and registration from Germany / Austria / Switzerland are recognized. You don’t need to take any further steps and can fly your drone in Albania under the same conditions.

Overview of the European rules that apply in Albania
In Albania, the regulations of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) apply. The following is a summary of the key facts. For a complete overview, read our article on the new EU drone regulation.
National peculiarities in Albania
Each country can define certain aspects of its drone regulations. For Albania, the following requirements apply in addition to the European regulations.
In addition to the European regulations, we are not aware of any further restrictions.
Even though we are not aware of defined geographic UAS zones, please follow standard procedures and consider safety distances to airports, for example.

An unofficial, interactive map with special airspaces can be found under the helpful links. Several large areas are displayed there. Feel free to read the detailed explanations of each zone, as not all airspaces start at ground level and are relevant for drone flights (up to 120 meters). For example, the outer area of the control zone around Tirana Airport starts only at an altitude of 2,500 feet (762 meters).
The drone rules for Albania listed here have been researched to the best of our knowledge. However, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information.
