Safety distances and flight bans

Drones can only be operated within visual line of sight in Bangladesh. The use of FPV systems requires a separate permit.

You have to keep a distance of 18.5 kilometers (10 miles) to airports, or you must obtain authorization from the air traffic control authorities.

9 kilometers (5 miles) of distance must be maintained to a built-up area. You have to keep 300 meters (1000 feet) away from buildings, vehicles, people, animals, and ships as long as they are not directly involved in the flight maneuver.

You are not allowed to fly with a drone over gatherings of people in Bangladesh.

Good to know: During a flight, you have to carry the following documents with you: approval of the CAAB, insurance document, a document with personal data of the pilot (name, address, and telephone number), flight restrictions of the drone according to the manufacturer. Autonomous operations are only permitted if you can take over manually at any time.

Hi! We are not aware of any restrictions for bringing a drone into the country. If you are unsure, you could check with customs beforehand: http://customs.gov.bd/index.jsf
The good news is that the rules for recreational flying are set to become less strict. Until we can update this article, see here: https://bdnews24.com/bangladesh/2020/09/14/recreational-drones-require-no-permission-to-fly-as-bangladesh-lays-down-rules

      Hi,
Yes, you still need permission to fly your drone in the country you travel to, especially when individual maneuvers have to be approved. Some countries have agreements with each other so that licenses can be recognized, but you still need to contact the authorities for such recognition.
